Reissued for the first time on vinyl Manuel Mota's "1 - 7" is another beautiful gem from the Portuguese experimental guitarist's career. A solo guitar record where once again the instrument is stripped from its most recognizable face, a slow descent into abstract textures and microtonalism where haunting melodies slowly creep up behind. Eerie, mysterious and completely alien, a collection of tracks that stretch time, confound and dazzle, opening portals into the unknown. Featuring liner notes from Stefano Pilia, mastering by Tako Unami and artwork by longtime collaborator Margarida Garcia, '1 - 7' is maybe one of Mota's most emotional releases, a night-time hallucinatory warm companion, woozy and enchanting. Subtle feedback and residual shreds of melody make for a ghostly voyage, loner psychedelia that travels far and wide.
